BYD launches the Han EV and M6 MPV in Vietnam
BYD has launched two new vehicles for Vietnam, the BYD Han EV and the BYD M6 electric MPV. The BYD Han EV is priced at 1,489,000,000 VND (58,800 USD) and the BYD M6 MPV starts at 756,000,000 VND (29,800 USD).
The Han EV is BYD’s flagship pure electric sedan that was originally launched for the Chinese market in 2020. The model was most recently refreshed for 2025 with updated rear suspension, new body colors, and improved LiDAR sensors. The 2025 Han EV launched in China this September with a starting price of 165,800 yuan (23,200 USD).
The pure electric BYD M6 is not currently offered in China and is currently only available in Indonesia and Thailand. The original combustion engine M6 was launched in China in 2010 and had received several facelifts, but has been discontinued.
BYD first entered Vietnam market earlier this summer on July 18th. They debuted with the Dolphin, Seal, and Atto 3, a trio BYD has chosen for nearly every new market.
It has been previously rumored that BYD will expand in Vietnam with a manufacturing plant, but those plans have been suspected to be put on hold. BYD cars sold in Vietnam are currently being imported from China, but in the future they will come from Thailand as BYD’s Thai factory nears completion.
BYD enters into a growing Vietnamese EV market facing competition from the local automaker Vinfast and other Chinese automakers like Great Wall Motors and SAIC-GM-Wuling. Vietnam had a total of 404,294 cars sold in 2023, with EVs making up around 6% of that total.
