BYD Unveils Shark 6 PHEV Pickup in Thailand: Merging Power, Innovation, and Sustainability
Bangkok, Thailand – At the 2025 Bangkok Motor Show, BYD, the global leader in vehicles, made waves with the launch of its highly anticipated Shark 6 PHEV pickup truck. The Shark 6 marks BYD’s entry into Thailand’s competitive pickup segment, combining cutting-edge technology, robust performance, and eco-friendly innovation.
Built on BYD’s DMO (Dual Mode Off-Road) platform, the Shark 6 integrates a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with dual electric motors, delivering a combined output of 320kW and 650Nm of torque. This powertrain propels the 2.7-ton truck from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds, paired with a 29.58kWh Blade Battery for a 100km pure electric range and 840km hybrid range. The vehicle also supports V2L external power discharge, ideal for outdoor adventures or job-site needs.
Measuring 5,457mm in length with a 3,260mm wheelbase, the Shark 6 outpaces rivals like the Ford Ranger, offering a 1,200L cargo bed and 2.5-ton towing capacity. Its rugged design includes C-shaped LED headlights, factory-installed off-road accessories, and a bold grille. Inside, a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, 10.25-inch digital cluster, and 12-inch W-HUD complement premium features like 50W wireless charging and dual-zone climate control.
As a right-hand drive model imported from China, the Shark 6 targets Thailand’s growing demand for eco-friendly yet capable vehicles. With pre-orders limited to 500 units and deliveries starting in September, BYD aims to challenge diesel-dominated competitors like the Toyota Hilux. The launch aligns with BYD’s strategic expansion, leveraging Thailand’s status as the world’s second-largest pickup market.
