BYD Accelerates Global Expansion with New 2025 Models Targeting Overseas Markets

Shenzhen, China — BYD, the world’s leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has unveiled its ambitious plans for global market penetration in 2025, introducing multiple new energy vehicles (NEVs) tailored for international markets. Building on its record-breaking sales performance and rapid overseas growth, the company is set to strengthen its presence in key regions, including Japan, South Korea, and beyond.

1. Key New Models

A. BYD Seal 07 DM-i & EV (Japan & South Korea)
The Seal 07, a premium mid-size SUV under BYD’s Ocean Series, will debut in Japan and South Korea in mid-2025. Designed to compete with Tesla’s Model Y, it features a sleek design, advanced DM-i plug-in hybrid technology, and a pure EV variant. The RWD version offers a WLTC-rated range of 590 km, while the AWD model achieves 540 km. 

B. BYD Shark Pickup (Global Markets)
Following its overseas launch, the BYD Shark, a plug-in hybrid pickup truck, will expand into additional markets. Built on the DMO platform, it boasts a 5.7-second 0–100 km/h acceleration, 100 km NEDC pure electric range, and a rugged design targeting premium segments above the Great Wall Cannon.

C. Seal 05 EV (Global Model)
The Seal 05 EV, a compact pure electric SUV with a futuristic design, is positioned as a global vehicle. With a shortened body (4520 mm) and enhanced aerodynamics, it combines affordability with BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery technology, ideal for urban markets.

D. Fang Cheng Bao Titan 3 (Youth-Oriented Markets)
The Titan 3, a compact hardcore SUV under BYD’s Fang Cheng Bao sub-brand. Equipped with dual motors (110 kW front, 200 kW rear) and a 4.9-second acceleration, it emphasizes off-road capabilities and tech-forward features like an optional rooftop drone bay.

2. Strategic Global Footprint
BYD’s overseas sales surged by 83.4% YoY in January 2025, reaching 66,336 units, driven by aggressive localization and partnerships.The company has established production bases in Hungary, Thailand, Brazil, and Uzbekistan to streamline supply chains and reduce costs. Its self-owned fleet of roll-on/roll-off ships, including the Explorer No.1, further enhances logistics efficiency.
In South Korea, BYD’s electric buses have already logged over 100 million kilometers, reducing CO₂ emissions by 12,000 tons. The upcoming electric tourist bus in 2025 will expand its commercial vehicle lineup

3. Technological Leadership
New models integrate BYD’s 5th-gen DM technology and DiPilot 100 advanced driving assistance, featuring red-light recognition, lane-keeping in complex road conditions, and autonomous parking.

4. Market Impact
BYD’s global sales reached 4.27 million units in 2024, securing its position as the world’s fourth-largest automaker. With 19 new models slated for 2025, including luxury flagships like the Yangwang U7 and Denza N9, BYD is poised to challenge traditional luxury brands while democratizing NEVs in emerging markets.
